THATS A WINNER! Dexter walks it off in the 13th to give the Cards the series win over the Mets! As advertised, this game was a pitching duel. The Mets’ only run off of Carlos came in the first on a Cespedes double. He finished with a line of: 6.0 IP, 4 H, R, ER, 0 BB, 3 SO. Syndergaard and Martinez were both dealing, but Carlos was taken out in the seventh after reaching 86 pitches for Dominic Leone. Dominic gave up a run on a sac fly to Cespedes to give the Mets a 2-0 advantage. Syndergaard was mowing through the Cards’ lineup all afternoon, but in the seventh the Cards finally managed to get a run across on an Ozuna single that scored Pham. The Birds then proceeded to tie it in the eighth. Garcia reached on an error to leadoff the frame. Yadi struck out, but Carpenter came through with a clutch single to put runners at the corners for the hottest hitter on the team, Tommy Pham. Pham continued his great day at the plate with an RBI single to left field to tie the game all up. In the tenth Gregerson walked home the go ahead run to give the Mets the lead back. Jeurys Familia came in for the save in the bottom half of the frame. Yadi lined out and O’Neill struck out to make it two outs with Pham up. Pham kept the game alive with a clutch single, putting Jose Martinez at the plate with the game on the line. Jose hit a double off the left centerfield wall to plate Pham and keep the game alive. John Gant entered the game in the eleventh, and was absolutely lights out, going three innings with no hits and a strikeout. The Cards got another chance to walk it off in the 13th with the heart of their order in Pham, Martinez, and Ozuna due up. Pham struck out, but Jose Walked and Ozuna singled to bring up Fowler with a chance to walk if off. And Dex did just that, hitting a walkoff single to right field to give the Birds the series win!
