The St. Louis Blues begin a four-game homestand tonight at Enterprise Center against the Seattle Kraken.
The Blues have dominated the series since the Kraken joined the NHL with a 9-2-1 record, including wins in five of the last six meetings.
Hofer Gets The Start
Joel Hofer gets the start in net after stopping 28 shots in a 3-0 shutout win at Buffalo on Thursday night. It was the Blues’ first shutout victory this season and only the second time they’ve allowed fewer than two goals.
It was an encouraging defensive effort, as the Blues still rank last in the NHL with 3.87 goals against per game. However, they are facing a Seattle team tonight that hasn’t been very potent offensively thus far. The Kraken rank 29th in the league with 2.62 goals per game.
Kraken Back On The Road
Seattle is coming off a blowout 6-1 loss against the Sharks on Wednesday in the finale of a five-game homestand. The Kraken went 2-1-2 in that stretch, and they return to the road where they are 2-2-2 this season.
Former Blue and 2019 Stanley Cup champion Jaden Schwartz is tied for the team lead with 10 points for the Kraken on 4 goals and 6 assists.
My Pick
I’m going to the player prop market for tonight’s pick and am banking on a big effort from Jordan Kyrou. After being a healthy scratch at Buffalo, he returns to the lineup tonight. Kyrou is expected to be on the top line with Brayden Schenn and Robert Thomas, and if a benching doesn’t get him going, I’m not sure what will.
Kyrou has gone pointless in four straight games. Prior to that, he had an eight-game point streak. I do expect Kyrou to respond and get on the scoresheet tonight, as he did in all three games against the Kraken last season with 3 goals and 1 assist.
