The Kansas City Chiefs look to keep their slim playoff hopes alive on Sunday against the Los Angeles Chargers.
And when I say slim, I mean slim.
The Chiefs have been eliminated from the AFC West race, and they trail Houston by two games for the final Wild Card spot with four games to play - and the Texans hold the tiebreaker after beating Kansas City last week.
The Chiefs also do not hold the tiebreaker over the other current Wild Card teams in the Chargers and Bills - and even if the Chiefs win on Sunday, they still won’t have the tiebreaker over LA due to the Chargers having a better divisional record.
Kansas City could win out, yet it would still not likely be enough to make the playoffs.
And that’s why I cannot understand why the Chiefs are a 6-point favorite here.
Some people are saying this is a do-or-die game for the Chiefs, but I think that game happened last week - and they died.
If you watched the game against Houston, I think the Chiefs’ body language told you this team is done for 2025.
Even if they were still legitimately in the race, 6 points feels like too many against a Chargers team that already beat Kansas City on a neutral field earlier in the season.
I will confidently take the Chargers and the points here, and I wouldn’t dissuade you from sprinkling them on the moneyline as well.
