The Saint Louis University Billikens tip off a week at home tonight against the Fordham Rams.
SLU also hosts Richmond this Saturday, as the Billikens look to extend their 14-game home winning streak (longest streak in Chaifetz Arena history).
Billikens Just Outside Top 25
SLU is coming off a fantastic week, winning a pair of road games at VCU and La Salle. The two victories lifted the Billikens to just outside the AP Top 25. They are now the top team in the receiving votes category.
The Bills have reached the 80-point mark in all but four of their games this season. SLU leads the Atlantic 10 at 92.8 points scored per game.
Rams Limit Possessions
The Billikens’ offense does face a bit of a challenge tonight, as Fordham allows the fewest points per game (63.9) among Atlantic 10 teams.
However, Fordham isn’t exactly a powerhouse defensive team. The Rams are the 148th-best defensive team in the country according to KenPom and mostly limit opponents by slowing down the pace. Fordham ranks 350th out of 365 Division One teams in average possession length.
My Pick
The Rams are going to try to slow down this game tonight, but I don’t think SLU is going to let them. The Billikens are a vastly superior team, with Fordham having already lost this season to the likes of NJIT, Colgate, and Holy Cross. SLU should be able to dictate pace in this one.
I’m confident the Billikens win this game comfortably, but 18.5 is a big number. So I’m going to get creative and give myself a discount on both the spread and total.
On DraftKings, they offer alternate spreads and totals. I’m going to lower SLU down to -12.5 and the total to 143.5 and pair them together in a -110 parlay. I like doing that better than taking the regular spread or total individually at -110.
